The Don Fairchild Scholarship Fund was established to support young adults, previously in residence with us and wishing to pursue post-secondary education. Don Fairchild was a teacher for the Juvenile Center from 1981-2001 and will always be remembered for his enthusiasm and commitment to teaching. Funds for the scholarship were raised  by hosting a golf tournament in his honor.

Former clients of the Northwestern Minnesota Juvenile Center who completed a 35 day evaluation; a 28 day work program, participated in our Satellite Home Program or was placed in our Residential Treatment program are eligible to apply for a scholarship. Prior recipients have pursued criminal justice degrees to cosmetology certifications.

To be considered for a scholarship past clients would simply need to contact the center to start the application process or click on the link below for an application.

To be considered for a scholarship you must submit, along with this form, a copy of your class schedule. The application deadline for Fall semester is August 15. The deadline for Spring semester is December 15. If you are re-applying, in addition to a schedule we also require a copy of your grades from the last semester.
